After much debate and deliberation a name was finally decided upon for this elegant, but fun style. Stunning and rich, with a definite, defiant quirky side...this style makes the most of it's voluptuous curves. Thinking of it now, the name "Nigella" (in honour of Nigella Lawson), seems wholly, and completely obvious.
Here, I have used a stunningly luxurious burgundy wool to construct the bag, giving it wonderful form and softness - I have then over-laid this with a divine, ornately embroidered voile fabric creating a beautiful interplay of light and colour. Truly stunning for a special evening event...
Pleated, ruched and darted, the Nigella is surprisingly roomy. This, combined with the same sumptuously soft burgundy lambswool for the lining, makes the bag gloriously puffed and squashy.
Measuring approx. 12" x 12" at its widest points when laid flat, the Nigella has a feature metal handle which measures 6" across, and has a 3" opening from the top of the feature ruching, to the top of the handle.
All my bags are entirely handmade by me in a smoke free, and pet free studio. They are double-stitched throughout, and triple stitched at any stress points. To keep their shape, they are all fully interfaced, in this case, with the same interface as used in winter weight patchwork quilts, and each comes packaged in its own protective cotton dust cover.
Every single bag we create is a one off design, never to be repeated in exactly the same way again. We love the creative challenge this affords us and knowing that each of our customers gets something totally unique to them!
