Callater Lodge is a Victorian shooting lodge, built in 1861 for a fabulously wealthy young man who had come in to his fortune. In 1905 the valuation roll mentions the Callater Lodge stable for the first time and we have inherited the signs advertising pony and trap rides around Braemar. Katy’s ancestors knew the lodge from the time it was built. Her 3x great grandfather was a blacksmith and repeatedly mended the stove. Guests will be delighted to know that we have upgraded our heating system since then! Callater Lodge became a guesthouse more than 50 years ago - in fact my mother used to admire the house on her way to visit her grandmother after school. It is now our very much loved home and guesthouse.
